National Junior Olympic Three-Position Air Rifle Championships
Registration for the 2012 National Junior Olympic Championships is now open.
The National Three Position Air Rifle Junior Olympics is an annual match held during the month of June or July. Participants qualify for the National Championship through a series of state matches. Often these state matches were held in more than one location, and the scores are compiled to determine state winners.
The National Junior Olympic matches were originally sponsored by USA Shooting and held at the Tom Lowe Shooting Center in Atlanta, Georgia, site of the 1996 Olympics on electronic targets. The matches moved to Bowling Green, Kentucky and were held back to back with the Daisy Air Championships. The CMP became more involved in 2008, the first year that the match was hosted at one of the CMP facilities. Upon the completion of the CMP Marksmanship Center - South, the Junior Olympics moved to Anniston, Alabama. This match was still held on paper targets and scored with the Orion Scoring System. In 2009, the match switched location to CMP Marksmanship Center North at Camp Perry, Ohio and was held on Megalink electronic targets. This was the first year that scores were uploaded almost simultaneously with the shots being taken, and images of the shot groups could be watched over the internet. In 2010, the match moved back to Anniston, Alabama, where electronic targets had been installed. The plan is now to rotate between the two CMP sites.

Individuals and teams can qualify in any state with an automatic score, but the state championship team must be from that state to win. Shooters can only fire in one qualifier, either in their own state or another. If shooters fire in more than one match, only their first score fired will count for qualification to nationals.
